A year abroad is a fantastic opportunity that Keiko Kikumoto has had the chance to experience. For the past year she has lived in Bastian, Virginia with the Mercer family. Orginally from Nara, Japan, Keiko came to America through the LABO prgram. Keiko is currently a junior at Rocky Gap High School. She has participated in many activities such as being a member of the school's basketball team, the manager for the girls volleyball team, a member for the FCCLA, 4-H, and BETA Club. Keiko has enjoyed her American homestay. This makes her second trip to America, her first was in Illinois several years prior to her year in America. While in America Keiko has had the opportunity to visit Washington D.C. for the state FCCLA conference which she enjoyed very much. Keiko also enjoyed attending the junior prom and being a contestant in the Miss RGHS pageant. Keiko departs for her return to Japan in mid-June where she will return to her school. When Keiko graduates from high school in Japan, she hopes to return to America and attend Virginia Tech. She also hopes to learn to speak Spanish and Chinese. |
