Re: (1) New check-in, early-out, return check-in, visitor, identification procedures for the parents/guardians of all Pre-K – 7 students of Rocky Gap Elementary, and (2) new check-in/out procedures for 7th graders housed at Rocky Gap High School.

Dear Parent or Guardian,

The Bland County School Board has implemented the IDENT-A-KID Computer Program to record check-ins, early-outs, return check-ins, and visitor information in all of the public schools in Bland County. The purpose of the program is to establish additional safety practices that coincide with the Crisis Management Plan procedures of each school to ensure the safety of all students, employees, and stakeholders.

Mrs. Radford will assist individuals in completing the required information for the required action on the IDENT-A-KID Computer at Rocky Gap Elementary.

The following guidelines will be followed by parents, guardians, and visitors upon entry into Rocky Gap Elementary:

  1. Check-ins, Early-outs, and Return Check-ins - Parents/Guardians and those transporting students to school by personal vehicle will no longer be permitted to drop their children off at the school after the last morning bell rings without entering the school and physically signing them in on the IDENT-A-KID computer. The program generates a tardy slip for each student. Students who are tardy will not be allowed to attend class until they are signed in by the party that transported them to school.
  1. The same procedure will be used for Early-outs and Return Check-ins.
  1. Visitors – Anyone who enters the school, other than a student or employee, any time during the instructional day, is considered a visitor. All visitors are required to get approval by the office and visitor’s identification patch with picture before moving about the school.
  1. New Seventh Grade Procedure – Parents and Guardians of seventh grade students will no longer be able to check them in or out at Rocky Gap High School. You must now complete this task in the elementary school office.

Thank you for all that you do in working with your child and supporting the educational efforts of Rocky Gap Elementary.

Sincerely,

Gary O. Williams

Principal Rocky Gap Elementary
